Scholarship Requirements

Each year MHHC Foundation awards scholarships to deserving college-bound youths who embody the values of essential leadership, community service and pursuit of scholastic excellence. These values are critical indicators to a successful college career.

Proceeds from the Annual Impact Awards Gala are designated to fund the Scholarship Program. In 2016, MHHC Foundation awarded over $60,000 in scholarships to students, to help them reach their full potential as they journey towards their dreams.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be a patient or related to a patient of Morris Heights Health Center

  • Must be a graduating high school senior

  • Maintain a least 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale. Please send in current transcript or end of the year transcript.

  • Conduct at least 20 hours of community service with a local organization. Please verify by sending in Proof of community service hours.

  • Must submit at least 2 letters of recommendations from teachers, religious leaders, and/or political representatives.

  • Submission of 2-3 page typed, double-spaced essay, size 12, Times New Roman Font, on (a) How has your education contributed to who you are today (b) describe how you have demonstrated leadership ability both in and out of school (c) discuss a special attribute or accomplishment that set you apart from others (d) describe your most meaningful achievement (e) and why are you a good candidate to receive this award.

  • Be accepted for admission at an approved accredited institution of higher education in a Program of study that leads to a degree.

  • Provide a copy of the acceptance letter and certification of enrollment issued from a two or four year college or university

Are You a Previous Scholarship Recipient?

All past IMPACT Awards Scholarship recipients are invited to submit an application to be considered for a Continuing Education scholarship. To be eligible, all applicants must:

  • Have been awarded an IMPACT Awards Scholarship by the MHHC Foundation in the past

  • Show proof of current enrollment into a higher education institution

  • Have a GPA of a B+ average or greater

  • Complete a scholarship application

  • Submit a 2-3 page essay responding to the following: Reflect on your time in college thus far, how has the experience helped you plan for your future? Have plans for your future changed since high school?

Deadline for Submission:

Entries must be submitted by May 12th and must be accompanied by the IMPACT Awards Scholarship Application.

The IMPACT Awards Scholarship Advisory Committee will choose the recipients based on the strength of his/her essay, community involvement, and recommendations.
